British publisher Fonthill Media has announced the upcoming release of Iron Maiden: Song by Song, a new book by Norwegian author and film scholar Christer Bakke Andresen, set for publication in January 2026. The book is part of Fonthill’s acclaimed Song by Song series, which offers in-depth examinations of legendary artists and their complete discographies.
Andresen’s book marks 50 years of Iron Maiden by exploring the band’s entire catalogue—album by album and song by song—through critical insight and historical context. Drawing on his years of commentary for Maiden Revelations, Andresen provides a comprehensive and celebratory perspective on one of the most iconic and enduring bands in heavy metal history.
From the band’s raw beginnings in the 1970s, through their classic 1980s era, the turbulence of the 1990s, and their powerful resurgence in the 2000s and beyond, Iron Maiden: Song by Song offers fans and music historians alike a detailed look at how each track contributes to the band’s legacy.
Christer Andresen is also the author of The Horror Cinema of a Nordic Country (2022) and a book called Villmark (2024), a deep dive into the making of the cult Norwegian horror film of the same name.
Stay tuned for more updates this fall.
