Judas Priest received the honour of being inducted into the Munich Olympic Walk of Stars this past weekend. Much like the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles or the Walk of Fame Europe in Rotterdam, celebrities from the world of entertainment and sports leave their handprints and personal messages on cement slabs embedded in the pathway.
Rob Halford, Ian Hill, Richie Faulkner, and Scott Travis were present to leave their prints. Unfortunately, Glenn Tipton was absent due to ongoing difficulties with travel caused by Parkinson’s disease. Andy Sneap is still considered a live member only and is therefore not a full-time member of Judas Priest.
To be included in the Walk of Stars, figures from sports, music, and entertainment must have made a significant contribution to the Olympic Park or celebrated major success at venues such as the Munich Olympic Stadium, Olympiahalle, or Olympic Hall. A committee selects the honourees from a list of nominations. Music groups, sports teams, and event representatives can also be chosen.
Last year, Iron Maiden received their own cement slab. Previous inductees include Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper, Deep Purple, Rammstein, and Scorpions.
