Lomor are a thrash metal band who here release their second album. It’s not often I receive records from the island of Réunion in the Indian Ocean. Then again, that isn’t particularly surprising either, because when I check Metal Archives for bands from Réunion, I find only 17 – surprisingly few considering there are actually 900,000 people living there.
Either way, the island is a former French colony and today an overseas department of France. Lomor therefore sing mainly in French, while also having a few songs in English. French in thrash metal is almost as unusual as metal bands from Réunion. That isn’t really surprising, as the French language doesn’t exactly suit the genre particularly well. Still, it doesn’t sound too bad either. That’s probably where I’d place “Sabouk Rouge” as well – it doesn’t sound too bad. There are riffs and songs here that work, but not well enough for this to be an album I’ll keep spinning. It’s simply too standard, too much like thrash metal that doesn’t stand out from the crowd. On top of that, Babouk’s vocals become too monotonous. All in all, this is a band that will quickly fade into oblivion for me.
Released February 6th, 2026 on Rockshots Records.
