Lucille is a thrash metal band from Poland that formed back in 2017. They previously released an EP titled Too Proud to Beg for Mercy in 2021, making Dawn of Destruction the band’s official full-length debut.
If you’ve watched The Walking Dead, you might recognize the name Lucille as the barbed-wire-wrapped baseball bat used by Negan to kill his enemies. The band clearly embraces the reference — the bat even appears in their logo, so there’s little doubt about where the name comes from.
Dawn of Destruction sounds aggressive and raw. The band unleashes riff after riff — each one cooler than the last. Their sound brings to mind classic ’80s thrash acts like Sodom, Destruction, and Exodus. But that’s also Lucille’s minor weakness: this is a style of music we’ve heard for over forty years now. They don’t bring much new to the table.
Still, if you’re hungry for old-school thrash metal, Lucille delivers in full force. The vocals may not be extraordinary, but they’re far from bad. And the cover art, created by Luisa Agudelo, looks great and suits the music perfectly.
Release June 27th, 2025 on Dying Victims Productions.
