Mindwars is an American thrash trio that has previously released four albums. That may go without saying, considering the band’s fifth and latest album is titled V. But V actually came out back in September of last year – self-released on streaming services and CD. Now, High Roller Records has picked up the album and is giving it a proper release, including both vinyl and cassette.
Well deserved, as this is solid thrash metal of the melodic kind. I also think Mindwars have developed a distinct style that sets them apart from the thousands of other thrash bands out there. The band features some powerful instrumental sections, which I suspect they spent a lot of time perfecting.
Don’t expect a groundbreaking album, but V definitely has its highlights – something fans of classic thrash metal will appreciate. Speaking of highlights: the record ends with a cover of Supertramp’s “The Logical Song” – a fun little number, for better or worse.
