Stavanger Rockfest took place on Friday and Saturday, 3–4 October, in Norway. Saturday’s headliner was Abbath, best known as the former frontman of the Norwegian black metal band Immortal. According to attendees, he left the stage roughly 20 minutes into his set.
After Abbath exited, it was some time before someone came out to announce that the concert was over due to health issues. No details were given about the nature of the problem.
Neither Abbath nor Stavanger Rockfest have provided further information on their official channels. Abbath has posted photos from the show on social media but has not mentioned that the concert was cut short.
Other bands performing at Stavanger Rockfest were Leprous, The Good the Bad and the Zugly, Årabrot, Purified in Blood, Baest, The Clumps, Honningbarna, Daufødt, You Know Who, Autonomie and Eie. This was the festival’s inaugural edition.
This was Abbath’s last gig of 2025. His next scheduled show is at Karmøygeddon Festival, which takes place Thursday 30 April–Saturday 2 May 2026.
UPDATE 6 OCT 2026:
Abbath has issued an apology on the festival’s Instagram:
Abbath wishes to apologise to attendees and organisers for the concert at Stavanger Rockfest ending earlier than planned. In the days leading up to the show he had been struggling with illness. He had hoped to be better by showtime, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. Before the concert it was considered whether to cancel or give it a try. He chose to give it a go, but partway into the set the tank simply ran dry. He tried to take a short break to regain energy, but it proved too much to see it through to the finish line. The end of the concert year didn’t go quite as planned — Abbath and the band hope you still enjoyed what was delivered, even if it was a shortened set. Thank you very much for your understanding.
