In a dramatic and highly public online statement, Elon Musk has accused President Donald Trump of being named in the unreleased Jeffrey Epstein files—escalating a rift between two of the most influential men in the United States.
Posting Thursday night on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter and now owned by Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO claimed:
“@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public.”
Musk concluded his post with a cold sign-off: “Have a nice day, DJT!” The post has since been viewed over 10 million times and is already sending shockwaves through political and media circles. Musk did not provide documentation to back up the claim, nor did he indicate how he had accessed the sealed Justice Department records related to Epstein.

The allegation references the highly classified files concerning the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who was known for allegedly trafficking underage girls to powerful elites across politics, business, and entertainment.
Until recently, Musk was a high-profile member of Trump’s administration, heading the controversial Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a creation of Trump’s second term aimed at slashing federal oversight and “streamlining” government operations. Under Musk’s leadership, thousands of federal jobs were eliminated—moves that drew fierce criticism from public unions and watchdog groups.
Last week, Musk abruptly resigned from the position. In the days that followed, he began openly attacking Trump’s economic policies, calling the administration’s recent tax-and-spend bill a “disgusting abomination” and “a betrayal of fiscal sanity.”
In response to Musk’s tweetstorm, Trump lashed out on Truth Social, claiming he had personally fired Musk from the administration.
“He was wearing thin,” Trump wrote, adding that Musk was “CRAZY!”
Where will Trump go after this? How can he answer Musk after such a big claim?
