The disaster genre made its debut in Norway with The Wave in 2015, followed by The Quake (2018), The North Sea (2021), and The Tunnel (2019). Now, the team behind the first three films is back with another hellish experience, this time in the form of the miniseries La Palma.
As the title suggests, the story takes us to the Canary Islands. But as you might have guessed, this is no ordinary tropical getaway filled with cocktails and sunscreen.
When a group of Norwegian tourists arrives on the islands, it doesn’t take long before their idyllic holiday turns into a nightmare. A local volcano erupts, transforming their sunny escape into a dramatic fight for survival.
The cast battling ash, lava, and chaos includes Anders Baasmo, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Thea Sofie Loch Næss, Thorbjørn Harr, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Johannes Joner, Jorge de Juan, Iselin Shumba, and Amund Harboe.
The four episodes of La Palma are directed by Kasper Barfoed and written by Harald Rosenløw Eeg and Lars Gudmestad. The series will premiere on Netflix on 12 December.
