Asylum
is a thrash metal band from Australia that was founded in 2012. Despite ten years of existence, the band has only released three EPs. “Tyrannicide” is therefore the band’s debut album, serving us 39 minutes of classic 80s-style thrash metal. The first impression is formed with fantastic cover art by Dan Goldsworthy. However, the music itself is not as impressive. “Tyrannicide” sounds decent enough, but it’s not very original, and you’ve heard it done better a thousand times before. But if you’re looking for traditional thrash metal, Asylum isn’t all that bad. It just sounds a bit uninspiring, and I quickly lose interest. The trio knows how to play and the album sounds pretty good. But the songs could have been better written. Maybe next time.
Released September 2nd, 2022 independently.
