This is the second album from the American melodic death metal band Dreaming Dead. The band blends different styles into their sound, and you can hear elements of doom, thrash, and, most notably, prog. In fact, the whole album opens with an instrumental doom track that works quite well as an intro. After that, the tempo picks up, and the melodic death metal takes over. This is certainly well-played, and there are many qualities here. However, unfortunately, it also sounds tame and toothless, especially when it comes to the death metal genre. The female vocals also become somewhat monotonous to the point where it doesn’t work well, especially when she can’t delve deeper into her growls. There are parts that work well here, and for big fans of melodic extreme metal, it might be worth checking out, even though this comes across as quite mediocre in my opinion.
