The Singaporean black metal band Impiety actually sounds a bit more like death metal with each album. However, they have managed to maintain the brutality and rawness well throughout the years. Main man Shyaithan, however, struggles to maintain a stable lineup, and on this eighth studio album, both the drummer and guitarist have been replaced, and the band now functions as a trio. Nevertheless, this is as tight and cohesive as it can get. At times, it’s simply wonderfully brutal. Unfortunately, “Ravage & Conquer” isn’t good enough to sustain the enthusiasm throughout the entire album, as it eventually tapers off when it becomes a bit repetitive. A little gem, however, emerges towards the end in the form of a brutal cover of Bathory’s “Sacrifice.”
