Finnish Indemon released their EP “Fear of Living” in 2022 and are now back with their debut full-length, “Reclaiming Chaos.” The band deals in thrash metal, but of the rowdier variety – with clear shades of both Motörhead and Entombed. It’s a mix the Finns pull off surprisingly well, giving them a sound that feels distinctly their own. Not bad at all, especially for a genre that has been running a bit on empty in recent years.
The blend of thrash, rock ’n’ roll, and death metal works seamlessly, and the band makes clever use of dynamics, shifting from calmer moments to crushing outbursts with ease. That variation keeps things fresh throughout. Vocalist Joose Riihelä also deserves recognition – his delivery is raw and brutal, yet always under full control. With “Reclaiming Chaos,” Indemon have put forward a strong debut, and it’s easy to imagine this material hitting even harder in a live setting.
