Konvolted is a band with members hailing from Italy, Poland, Germany, Finland, and Ukraine – a truly international lineup. The band was formed in 2021, and now their debut album is ready. Well, it was released in January this year as a self-financed effort – but now Sliptrick Records has picked it up and re-released it. They could have saved themselves the trouble. Because listening to this is downright dreadful. The production is dry and uninspiring, the instrumentals are lackluster, and the vocals are monotone and unengaging. Worst of all are the songs themselves, which are at a bottom-tier level. I can’t fathom how one can create such meaningless riffs. The band categorizes themselves within the groove metal genre, but I’m not entirely convinced. This is far from the caliber of better bands in the genre, like Machine Head and Pantera. Now, I don’t doubt that there might be some who enjoy Konvolted. But for my part, I’m just looking forward to the album being over.
