Ossuary is an American death metal band made up of a trio of musicians, including members from bands like Jex Thoth. The band formed in 2015 and released their first demo that same year. A second demo followed in 2019, and in 2023, they finally released an EP. But it’s only now, in 2025, that their debut full-length album is being released.
Instrumentally, the music reminds me of a slower version of Bolt Thrower, while the vocals bring to mind Killjoy from Necrophagia. It’s a very cool mix, and I enjoy the heavy, sludgy riffs that occasionally explode into faster passages. The sound is heavy, brutal, and distinctly necro — it almost feels like you can taste corpse worms in your mouth while listening to Abhorrent Worship.
Ossuary have managed to carve out a sound of their own, even if it may resemble others within the crowded death metal scene — and they deserve credit for that. I also really like the cover art by Morgan Sørensen — it’s a bit different, but fitting and very striking.
Released May 23rd, 2025 on Me Saco Un Ojo Records.
