Belgium’s Sanity’s Rage formed in 2002, but releases have been sparse. They put out an EP in 2006 and, in 2012, their debut album “You Are What You Swallow”, so the follow-up, “The Dead Don’t Run”, is decidedly overdue. The band deal in thrash metal with a modern twist—technical, highly melodic passages and very polished, pristine production. On that front it may land more with metalcore fans than with dyed-in-the-wool thrash diehards.
It’s certainly well played, cohesive and professional, but that does little for me when I’m bored and craving more grit in the songwriting. For all the qualities that could carry Sanity’s Rage to a wider audience, this also embodies what has made thrash dull and toothless over the years.
Release October 15th, 2025 independently.
