The opening show of Marilyn Manson’s UK tour has been canceled after mounting pressure from campaigners and a local Member of Parliament. The concert, scheduled to take place at the Brighton Centre, would have marked the start of the UK leg of The One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1 Tour, the controversial singer’s first full tour in nearly five years.
The cancellation comes in response to a campaign led by No Stage For Abusers, a group demanding that venues and authorities refuse to host artists accused of abuse. The group called on the Brighton Centre and Brighton and Hove City Council—which owns the venue—to pull the event. MP Siân Berry also intervened, penning an open letter to council leader Bella Sankey, stating:
“Many survivors in Brighton and Hove, and organisations supporting them, will have serious concerns about this booking and its wider impact on other people visiting the city centre, local residents and the wider community.”
Multiple women have accused Manson of abuse in recent years, leading to lawsuits and widespread backlash. Manson himself filed a defamation suit against actress Evan Rachel Wood—who accused him of grooming and abuse—but later dropped the case.
The Brighton show has been removed from Manson’s official website and is marked as canceled on Ticketmaster. The UK leg of the tour is now set to begin in Bournemouth on Halloween.
