Inherited is a young and fresh groove metal band from the Netherlands. The group won the Wacken Metal Battle Netherlands in 2024 and earned a spot at the prestigious festival in Germany. Now, they’re ready with their debut album, fittingly titled No Regrets. When you’re barely out of your teens, having “no regrets” isn’t all that surprising—so it seems they mean the title quite literally.
The music takes me back to the ’90s, echoing the sound of the groove metal wave from that era. However, No Regrets suffers from a somewhat underwhelming production and lacks the punch one expects from the genre. Neither the production nor the songwriting fully hits the mark, but what the album does have in abundance is energy. I can easily imagine this band being explosive on stage.
As a standalone album, No Regrets probably won’t keep me coming back, but it’s still a solid starting point—and considering their young age, the band definitely deserves some support.
