Philthy Animal Taylor is a guy that most readers of Hell on Earth Metal Zine are well acquainted with – after all, he was the drummer for Motörhead until 1991 when he got fired. After that, Philthy’s career isn’t really widely known. But he was involved in starting up this band, Little Villains, in 2004. They didn’t really get to do much while he was in the band, and in 2015 he died of liver disease. However, he did manage to record some material, which was released in 2019 and 2020. “Battle Of Britain” is thus the band’s fourth album, and it pains me to listen to this record when it’s so extremely bad, considering Philthy was involved here and is now deceased. But unfortunately, “Battle Of Britain” is comically bad. Not just the music, the songs, and the performance, but everything about the record is bottom-tier. The cover is an absolute disaster, among other things. I also find myself watching the music videos the band has uploaded on YouTube with great fascination because they’re so incredibly bad. Music is easy to get away with when things are bad – you can chalk it up to “personal taste.” But when it comes to videos, you can’t hide the fact that you have no clue what you’re doing to the same extent. The whole package that Little Villains serves up is just incredibly shoddy, and I’m impressed. Impressed by how poor some people’s judgment can be. At the very bottom of the ladder.
