From Gothenburg, we have Engel with their third album, blending the melodic death metal style that Gothenburg is famous for with more industrial samplings and poppy choruses. There are elements here that may remind you of In Flames and might sound cool, except that In Flames does it much better. While the industrial samplings do more harm than good. Additionally, some of the melodies and choruses become so overly sweet that it feels like diabetes three, four, and five are under development. Engel has the potential to become popular and reach many, but that’s not necessarily a sign of quality.
