Persecutor hails from Denmark and released their debut album “Rebirth” in 2019. Now, the band is back with their follow-up, “Vendetta.” Their thrash metal style can draw some parallels to their fellow countrymen in Hatesphere. It sounds a bit polished, a bit groove metal, and a bit metalcore. There’s a lot of energy, and the songs are dynamically structured. Unfortunately, they also come across as a bit too straightforward, and the feeling of having heard this a thousand times before permeates the entire album. Consequently, “Vendetta” doesn’t excite me very much. It’s a bit of a shame because it seems like the Danes are skilled with their instruments and have a lot of energy. If only the songs were a bit better.
