Phil Campbell doesn’t need much of an introduction, as he’s well-known as the guitarist for Motörhead for many years. After Lemmy’s passing, he started this band with his three sons and vocalist Neil Starr. Since then, Neil Starr has left, and Joel Peters has joined. Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons are now ready with their third album, and I just think this band sounds better and better.
Sure, it’s quite unoriginal, straightforward rock ‘n’ roll without many surprises. But it sounds good, they have some great songs, and Phil Campbell’s guitar playing is solid. So all in all, a very enjoyable album. It deserves a solid eight stars from me. It gets your foot tapping, and the songs are sing-along friendly. It’s great to see Phil Campbell has found a worthy band after his days with Motörhead. I also have to commend the use of the cool cover art by Dan Goldsworthy.
