Doctor, musician, and actor Anders Danielsen Lie (45) is set to play the lead role in a film about jazz legend Bill Evans.
The upcoming film, titled Everybody Digs Bill Evans, was reported by Deadline.
Anders Danielsen Lie is known for films such as The Worst Person in the World and Oslo, August 31st.
Joining him on the cast are Hollywood veterans Bill Pullman and Laurie Metcalf. Pullman will play Evans’ father, Harry, while Metcalf takes on the role of his mother, Mary.
The film will focus on a dramatic period in Evans’ life in 1961, when the jazz star lost his musical soulmate, bassist Scott LaFaro, in a car accident.
The incident occurred just ten days after they had recorded two of the most famous live albums in jazz history.
“With Anders Danielsen Lie as Bill, Laurie Metcalf as his mother Mary, and Bill Pullman as his father Harry, we have an amazingly intense, sensitive, warm, and restless family trio at the heart of the film. It’s a gift for a director!” said director Grant Gee in a statement.
Filming is set to begin in Ireland in early 2025. The movie will partially be shot on 16mm film and in black and white.
Anders Danielsen Lie recently appeared in the psychological thriller Mothers’ Instinct (2024), alongside Oscar winners Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway.
David Garrett from Mister Smith Entertainment, who will handle the film’s international sales, is full of praise.
He describes the project as “a unique and captivating story about how a man navigates his tumultuous world of family, love, and grief through the creation of some of the most sublime music ever performed.”
