From the ashes of the Austrian thrash metal band Demolition arises Deathtale. If you’re familiar with Demolition, then musically, this is pretty much in the same style. If nothing else, “Apocalyptic Deadline” has been cranked up harder and more aggressively than Demolition was. I’m actually somewhat impressed by how tough and old school this album sounds. Not that the riffs are lacking in any way, but much of it is owed to what they’ve managed to do with the vocals. The variation from more typical death metal growling to the hissing aggression works really well. If you’re into thrash metal in a similar vein to Usurper, this should definitely be checked out.
