Bay Area thrash metal legends Forbidden are back in the studio for the first time since 2010’s Omega Wave. The band is recording three new tracks at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California, with Zack Ohren handling production.
Guitarist Craig Locicero leads the creative process alongside bassist Matt Camacho, drummer Chris Kontos, and vocalist Norman Skinner. Voivod’s Daniel Mongrain has stepped in as a temporary guitarist, replacing Steve Smyth.
Locicero described the writing process as one of the band’s tightest ever, with intensive collaboration between members. “Some songs have been in the works for almost a year, while others are fresh, but all are unmistakably Forbidden,” he said.
Beyond the studio, Forbidden is set for a “40 Years of Twisted Evil” European tour starting in August, celebrating their four-decade legacy and the 35th anniversary of Twisted Into Form.
