What’s the deal with female thrash metal bands from Brazil? There seems to be quite a few of them, which isn’t as common in many other countries, yet Brazil boasts bands like Nervosa and Crypta. The rest of the world could definitely take note.
The best part? All of these bands sound great—including The Damnnation. Founded in 2019, the band released their EP Parasite in 2020. Now, they are ready with their debut album, and it shows a lot of promise. This is well-produced, heavy-hitting thrash with a distinct Brazilian edge.
Renata Petrelli’s vocals, while solid, can get a bit monotonous over time—it would benefit from a bit more variation. That said, this is a strong album, and The Damnnation definitely deserves attention.
