Xenos A.D. is an Italian thrash metal band that started in 2019 under the name Xenos. Their debut album Filthgrinder was released in 2020, followed by The Dawn of Ares the following year. In 2023, the band changed their name to Xenos A.D., and now their third album is ready to be unleashed: Reqviem for the Oppressor.
The album sounds fine. The band plays well and delivers some solid riffs, but I’m not particularly impressed by the vocals, which come across as a bit monotonous. The same goes for the songs themselves — they’re fairly standard thrash metal, the kind we’ve been hearing for over forty years.
Unfortunately, Reqviem for the Oppressor is an album that will likely be forgotten rather quickly. The overall sound just isn’t original enough to stand out from the crowd.
