Nailed to Obscurity have been going for twenty years. In that time the band have released five albums, including their new record “Generation of the Void”. They deal in melodic death metal that, over the years, has shifted towards a more modern, fairly progressive sound. There’s something odd about a band with “obscurity” in its name sounding this polished and accessible. But fair enough … bands are allowed to evolve.
There are more than enough quiet passages, and they often use clean, more sensitive vocals. To my ears it isn’t especially exciting. On the contrary, there are so many bands of this kind, and the slick production just bores me. That said, I don’t doubt Nuclear Blast will sell plenty of copies of a record like this.
Released September 5th, 2025 on Nuclear Blast Records.
