Kill Ritual are a US thrash metal band who’ve been going since 2010. “In My Head” is their seventh album, so they’ve kept busy over the past fifteen years. Since the previous record, “Kill Star Black Mark Dead Hand Pierced Heart”, the band have gone from a quartet to a duo. The remaining members are guitarist Steve Rice, a co-founder, and drummer Seamus Gleason, who joined in 2017. For this album they’ve brought in a vocalist who goes by ‘Judas’; at times his voice recalls Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth of Overkill. Who’s behind the alias hasn’t been revealed—as far as I can tell—but he does a solid job.
Kill Ritual have generally turned in records that range from decent to good, and that’s what they deliver again here. The production guitarist Steven D. Rice, and the mix and master by Swedish Andy LaRocque at Sonic Train Studio, is solid. “In My Head” is a good album, but it doesn’t quite reach the top tier. The songs don’t stick with me to long, even that they got some good riffing going on. Bonus points for the slick cover art by Jobert Mello.
Released November 21st, 2025 on Massacre Records.
