Sweden’s thrash metal-band Eternal Evil is back with a new kick-ass album called “Forever Feared”. I have been impressed by the young Swedes in thrash metal band Eternal Evil over the past few years. Partly because the band’s first two albums have been a real shot of energy for the genre, and partly because they delivered a fierce show at Tons of Rock last year.
But also because we are still talking about a very young band here. Granted, vocalist and guitarist Adrian has now passed the age of 22, so we are talking about young adults rather than teenagers. Adrian has made a few changes to the line-up since last time, with Adam Sjö joining on bass and Felix Wahlund on drums. And it certainly sounds like they know what they are doing.
Although Eternal Evil generally like things aggressive and fast, there are also melodies and sections where they slow things down, creating good dynamics when the tempo picks up again. Just check out the title track on «Forever Feared». Variation is worth its weight in gold in thrash metal, and Eternal Evil are heading in the right direction, even if there is still room for even more variety. Once again, though, Eternal Evil deliver a good album, and if you get the chance to see this young band live, you would be wise to take it.
Released May 29th, 2026 on Listenable Records.
