From Spain, we have Altar of Sin, who have now released their third full-length album, and they are still delivering a brutal fusion of thrash and death metal. What the band excels in is their immense intensity and energy. Particularly, the drumming here is quite vigorous, and the fact that the drummer also sings simultaneously is impressive. Not that he does it on the album due to studio techniques, but the trio performs the material live, and in that scenario, there aren’t many choices. Not all the tracks on the album hit the mark equally well, and it slightly loses its impact as it progresses. But at times, they rampage effectively, as seen in the song “Tales of Carnage,” which can be considered the album’s highlight.
