Game Over is an Italian thrash metal band that has previously released five albums. On their sixth release, a few things have changed. Renato Chiccoli, who previously handled both vocals and bass, has left the band, and his role has now been split in two. As a result, Game Over has expanded to five members. Danny Schiavina from Sofisticator has taken over vocal duties, while Leonardo Molinari from Vlterior is now on bass.
Musically, Game Over sounds like a classic American thrash metal band. The riffs hit hard, while the vocal lines remain melodic. Face The End is also a varied album — it ranges from fast-paced tracks to slower moments, like the more subdued “Crimson Waves.”
But the real highlight of Face The End is the guitar work. The solos and riffing are top-notch. Game Over isn’t reinventing the wheel here — they’re following thrash metal formulas that have existed since the 1980s. But the album is well-crafted and enjoyable. Even the album cover, painted by Mario López, is fantastic.
Released April 25th, 2025 on Scarlet Records.
