Greek band Speedrush plays thrash metal and is now ready with the follow-up to “Endless War” from 2016. “Division Mortality” is the band’s second album, and they have grown quite a bit since their debut. It sounds a little fresher and a bit more polished than before. Speedrush faces the same issue as many other bands in the thrash metal genre: it doesn’t sound particularly original or exciting. However, Speedrush has added some creative elements that make “Division Mortality” quite a bit more listener-friendly. They’ve come up with some seriously tough riffs on this album—impressively many, in fact. Additionally, the production is excellent, and I especially like the guitar sound. Nir Beer’s vocals are also very good. The vocal could perhaps be a bit more varied, but overall, Nir Beer does a solid job. The icing on the cake is the fantastic cover artwork painted by Mario López, so impressive that it’s easily one of the best cover art of the year.
Released October 11th, 2024 on Jawbreaker Records.
