When you put on this EP and Septekh’s death metal seeps out of the speakers, you’re not exactly surprised that this bunch comes from Stockholm. The city that has housed bands like Entombed, Carnage, and Dismember also has its own distinctive character, and it’s easy to hear where Septekh originates from. However, the band has also managed to carve out their own style by infusing the songs with a touch of punk and rock ‘n’ roll. Listen to the track “Eating the Maneater,” and you can practically feel The Hellacopters’ attitude and guitar play. I also appreciate the “in your face” attitude of the band, where both lyrics and riffs are cheeky as can be. It’s just a shame that twenty-two minutes feel all too short.
