Invicta from Canada plays a kind of melodic crossover between thrash metal and death metal. Here they are with their second full-lenght album; “Triumph and Torment”. The vocals are very much in the death metal genre, while the riffs are mostly of the thrash variety. At regular intervals, there is a lead guitar that plays melodic leads. The melodies played are rarely anything particularly good. Therefore, the album actually feels a bit mediocre. It’s a shame because there are talented musicians at the core here. But one must also be able to write good songs.
