Elijah Wood’s American indie production company SpectreVision has boarded Patrik Syversen’s upcoming Norwegian film Demring as co-producer. The film, set to premiere this autumn in Norway, now gains an international boost through the collaboration.
“We were completely blown away by Demring,” said Wood and his SpectreVision partners Lawrence Inglee and Daniel Noah in a joint statement. The trio will serve as executive producers on the film.
Demring follows three sisters retreating to their family cabin after a traumatic event. When their mother dies, the two older siblings choose not to tell the youngest, triggering a tense spiral of secrets, lies, and unexpected visitors. The cast includes Kathrine Thorborg Johansen, Thorbjørn Harr, and Marte Magnusdatter Solem.
Syversen, known for Rovdyr and Kielergata, calls the film “a new beginning” in his career and praised SpectreVision’s taste for “the subversive and unique.”
Produced by Syversen and Andreas Johannessen under their new banner Planete Sauvage, Demring is also co-produced by Kristin Emblem of Einar Film (Handling the Undead). Johannessen recently served as cinematographer on SpectreVision’s upcoming film Rabbit Trap starring Dev Patel.
