Konquest is an Italian heavy metal band that released their debut album last year. The follow-up, “Time and Tyranny” is ready, and we are served more metal anthems of mediocre quality. I would be surprised if the band’s sole member, Alex Rossi, recorded this anywhere other than at home on his PC, to put it that way. When I sit and listen to several albums in a row, most of them have fairly consistent volume, but “Time and Tyranny” needs to be turned up because the sound is so low. But yes, despite that, the production isn’t so bad. It sounds decent for one of these one-man projects. Doing everything yourself has its advantages and disadvantages. You get it the way you intended, but you might not be the best at everything. In Alex Rossi’s case, the vocals are probably a bit below par. But he does a decent job, and I’ve heard many of these retro-heavy metal bands with far worse vocalists. The songs are also a bit hit or miss. They trudge along without any standout tracks. In that sense, “Time And Tyranny” is a rather mediocre album.
